We are a distributor, not a fee-charging adviser

This is the most important thing on this page, so it is worth stating plainly. Harbla Finserv is an AMFI-registered mutual fund distributor. We are not a SEBI-registered Investment Adviser, and we do not charge you a fee for advice.

In practice that means we distribute regular plans of mutual fund schemes. The fund house pays us a commission out of the scheme's expense ratio for as long as you stay invested through us. You do not write us a cheque; the cost is inside the product.

Direct plans of the same schemes exist, carry a lower expense ratio, and pay no distributor commission. You can buy them yourself without us. If you want someone to sit across a desk, work through the arithmetic with you, chase the paperwork and answer the phone in a bad market, that is what the commission pays for. You should know both options exist before you choose.

The conflict this creates, and what we do about it

Being paid by product providers creates an obvious conflict: we earn more when you invest more, and different products pay differently. We manage it in three ways, and you are entitled to hold us to them.

  • We put the arithmetic first and recommend a product only after the requirement is clear.
  • We will tell you when the right answer is to change nothing, or to keep an existing policy.
  • If you ask what we are paid on something we have recommended, we will tell you.

Other products

Alongside mutual funds we can help with insurance, bonds, fixed deposits, equity, exchange traded funds, portfolio management services and loans against mutual funds. These are distributed under separate arrangements and registrations, each with its own regulator and its own remuneration structure. Details for any specific product are available on request before you commit to anything.

What we will never do

  • Promise or imply a guaranteed return on a market-linked product.
  • Ask for your passwords, OTPs, or transaction credentials.
  • Ask you to transfer money to a personal account. Investments are paid to the fund house or insurer directly.

Complaints

If something has gone wrong, tell us first and we will try to put it right. Email harblafinserv@gmail.com or call +91 98761 30803, and please include what happened and when.

If we do not resolve it to your satisfaction, you can escalate. Complaints about a mutual fund scheme or its distribution can be raised with the fund house concerned, with AMFI, or through SEBI's SCORES platform. Complaints about an insurance policy go to the insurer's grievance officer and then to the IRDAI. We will give you the current contact route for your specific case on request rather than publish addresses here that may go out of date.
